In 2019 we celebrate
160 years
of service
to our Community.

Annual Blessing of the Pets

Every year our church hosts a Blessing of the Pets on a Saturday morning on the front lawn of the church. Area residents and church members are invited to bring their pets --- dogs, cats, rabbits and even horses --- to the church to receive individual blessings following a brief animal-themed service. Watch our calendar for the exact date for our next Pet Blessing. Contact Kathy Ziprik for more details..

  Presbyterian Women

The Presbyterian Women (PW) united in the church work on local and worldwide missions, support unique opportunities and gather for Bible study on a regular basis. Please contact Judy Andersen for more details.

On Super Bowl Sunday, millions of Americans tune in to the Super Bowl football game. There are parties with abundant food, friendship and fellowship. At the same time, there are people worrying about staying warm, finding shelter and a warm meal. People around the country demonstrate Godís love by loving their neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring.
It is a simple, yet significant act of caring for others.

Worshipers at MRPC donate canned goods and/or
donations that benefit IAM of Henderson County.

a faith-based non-profit organization providing assistance to Henderson County residents since 1984.

  Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM)

All during the year, we collect items that IAM requests. Their mission is to provide emergency relief to Henderson County residents who are in financial crisis by offering food, clothing, funds, guidance and referrals in an atmosphere of compassion and respect.

Please place non-perishable food items in the basket on the alter of the church or by the door of the church.  Clothing items can be placed in the Fellowship Hall near the puzzle.

Nickels, pennies, dimes, and quarters: loose change dropped into cans, the whispers of a paper donation. These are the sounds of the "5-Cents-A-Meal" collection taken during the worship service on the last Sunday of each month to support anti-hunger programs locally, regionally, and internationally.

This program is just one way Mills River Presbyterian Church supports the work God is already doing in our midst. By combining our offerings with other congregations, we gather more than $120,000 annually to give as grants to ministries and agencies that directly address hunger in western North Carolina and the world. Grants include Interfaith Assistance Ministryís Food Pantry in Hendersonville.

Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families is a safe, supportive, Christian environment for children who are dependent, neglected, abused, homeless or who otherwise cannot live with their families. The Home is a private, not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and the Presbyterian Church (USA). The mission of Black Mountain Home is to glorify God by caring for children and families. For more information visit

  Coyolate, Guatemala

The Presbytery of Western North Carolina has been in partnership with two presbyteries in Guatemala for 20 years. Two of the priorities have been education and public health efforts in Guatemala.

At Mills River Presbyterian Church we are honored to have
Monte Horeb
in Coyolate, Guatemala as our partner church.

Each year our congregation provides scholarships for children in Coyolate, allowing them to go to school and advance their learning. Although nominally free, attending school in Guatamala has enough expenses to prevent a great majority of children from going at all, much less advancing beyond elementary-level education.

Scholarships from Mills River Presbyterian Church (about $100 per child, per year) help children look forward to a future where their dreams can be realized. Everyone is invited to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Scholarship Fund for the children in Coyolate. Pictures and brief biographical information of the students are available.
