Service and Outreach
SPECIAL GIVING
- Maggie Thomas is organizing the Angel Tree for the Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain. There are six names. You may take any/all responsibility for items on the list for any child. See Maggie for details.
- Christmas cards benefiting the Guatemala Partnership Children’s Scholarship program will be available soon. All monies raised will enable children in our partner presbyteries to go to school. |
You’ll notice something different about our newsletter calendar this month and for several months to come. We’re launching our “150 Days of Prayers” for members and friends of our church family. During the next 150 days (which will bring us right up to our September 150th Homecoming activities!) we ask that you offer up special prayers each day for those individuals listed on the calendar.
Mission & Outreach and Christian Education
- The C.E./Mission & Outreach/Communications Committees have started to activate and expand our church’s website. The address is: www.millsriverpreschurch.org. Jessica Wagner, Sharon Wininger, and Lynn Brintle are spearheading the effort to bring it up to date. We plan on posting timely information on it, including the monthly newsletter. Look for its redevelopment in the near future!
Remember to support our ongoing mission projects:
MAINSTAY – 1st Sunday of each month - paper goods & new/good used baby items
IAM – 2nd Sunday - canned & dried foods
5-CENTS-A-MEAL – last Sunday of each month
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
The Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain is still collecting school supplies for the new school year. A list of needed items is posted on the bulletin board. We also have a local school fund for such needs in Henderson County on an ongoing basis. You can contribute throughout the year. Please be mark these contributions “Local School Fund”.
The Presbyterian Coffee Project benefits small-scale farmers in developing countries through the Equal Exchange Fairly Traded goods program. Check out our assortment of Coffees, Teas, Chocolates, Cranberries, Pecans, and Almonds. Remember you are ministering to others with your purchase of these goods! For more information check out the Equal Exchange Fairly Traded website at: http://www.equalexchange.coop/index.php
The session would like to provide for people who need rides, either to church or for appointments elsewhere. In order to develop the list please call or email the church office if you either need a ride or can drive someone on an as-needed basis.
